BBC Radio 2 Debut for Varese’s Wandering Star Band

BBC Radio 2 Debut for Varese’s Wandering Star Band
Varese-based band Wandering Star made their worldwide radio debut today (Sun 10th March 2008) on BBC Radio 2’s “Good Morning Sunday” a programme that celebrates both British choral tradition and the vibrant world of modern music playing spiritually uplifting and reflective music.
Delighted with the cover songs that the band recorded exclusively for the programme, 27 year-old vocalist Luisa Bertolatti said, “It’s very surreal to be sitting in bed with a cup of tea, listening to yourself on such a prestigious radio station as BBC Radio 2.”
The band’s 26 year-old classical guitarist Simone Folador commented, “We would like to thank all the musicians who collaborated with us and hope that we gave the listeners a spiritually uplifting start to the day with our edited and ethereal version of Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’.

Wandering Star Travelling Far

Wandering Star Travelling Far
Wandering Star, winners of the LifeGate radio”Talenti per Natura 2008″ in which 260 bands and artists took part and 15,000 listeners voted online, have released their first professional CD.
The Varese-based band came together through and ‘unexpected collaboration’  when Anglo-Italian singer/ actress Luisa Bertolatti was introduced to Simone Folador, an up-and-coming guitarist from Varese, by Marco Grisa, the director of a play that she was starring in at the time.
Simone, who has a degree in guitar, obtained via the Pareggiato F. Vittadini Institute di in Pavia, was creating and improvising the music while Luisa performed on stage.
In September 2005, they met up for the first time at Simone’s rehearsal studio in Varese, affectionately named the “Temple.”  As Luisa recalls,” The idea was to take a song and to have fun exploring all its possibilities.  I really liked what Simone did, so it was very intimidating to arrive at the studio for the first time. He suggested a key to sing in and away we went.”
“We started harmonising – I have always liked harmonies.  We rehearsed together and did about four songs; it was a really great experiment and it proved we could do it.”
“We created something I could never have dreamed of – it was a real life-changing experience “said Luisa, “We had such a passion for our music – I was looking forward to each day.”
With only Simone’s acoustic guitar, Luisa’s crystal clear voice, and the harmonies they knew that this could work if the music had some sort of thread; “We have quite a new sound I would say, soft, soothing folk rock” commented Luisa.
There is no question that the 27-year-old can sing. She has tremendous range and vocal strength, as well as the ability to pull off those high notes with a voice that is technically strong.
They have recently recorded their first professional CD at Greensound Studios in Busto Arsizio, with the collaboration of Maddalena Prevosti (cello) and Ruben Bosetti (drums) produced by Luisa and Simone.
Now it’s available for all fans to listen to and judge the real qualities of this superb album and vocal performance – Luisa and Simone commented, “We’re really looking forward to people hearing our music. Wandering Star is a dream come true and our album was written to be listened to while travelling and for people like us who love to travel “.
This is just the beginning for Wandering Star – who will surely ‘travel far’
