You know how sometimes you just wake up one morning with a song in your head? Not just any song, a song you’ve never heard before… and you don’t know where you heard it, or when… and then you realise you have never heard it… and somehow it comes from you… it’s an exciting and scary feeling….

That’s what happens to me, and how it all started – I would just start humming a tune or singing a song, making up the words as I went along without thinking it could actually be something I could DO … Music! Me? Wasn’t that something you had to study years for? It just seemed impossible.

Then one day I just woke up and thought, “Wait a minute, why don’t I ask someone if they think I can?”. And well, they did.

So a few years after singing at the end of a long night out in the streets in front of amazed friends and relatives I decided to take it seriously – I looked for a guitarist. Well, actually he sort of came to me. I was acting in a play at the time and the director, a very close friend of mine, introduced me to Simone Folador – he was to accompany us as we acted out certain scenes in the play. Well, I was dumbfounded by how cool and sweet and talented he and his guitar playing were, so I just had to have him become art of my band – there was no question about it. I wouldn’t take no for an answer. And a few months later, he accepted.

So there we were in a damp, cold and dark rehearsal room with egg boxes on the walls, both too nervous to sing/play in front of the other. But we managed in the end – we had to – and we looked at each other and knew this was something special. Simone had seen me acting but had never heard me sing before and didn’t quite expect me to have the voice that I do…

So anyhow, a few months later we had already written a dozen songs and were ready to find a name for the band… We were thinking of Wandering Star, I just love the song by Portishead, and while we were deciding on the name, one morning the song “I was Born Under a Wandering Star” by Lee Marvin came on the radio (it’s strange but a lot of decisive stuff happens to me at the moment when I wake up), and I saw that as a clear sign… So the name WANDERING STAR stuck, and we love it.

We knew we wanted other musicians to be part of the band, so we started inviting our musician friends to our rehearsals – a few trials and errors later, and we found the missing pieces….

So what are our hopes, our dreams? Well, there are many… but music is definitely one of them. And we hope to bring colour and poetry to the world and whomever wishes to listen to our music.
